Welcome to the professional website of Rick Owens

Rick Owens is a music educator living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Rick taught music in the public schools of North and South Carolina for twenty-seven years at the middle school, high school and community college level. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Furman University in Greenville, SC and a Master's degree in Music Education from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. He is also a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolscent through Young Adult Music.

Rick taught Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Beginning Band, Music Appreciation, Music Theory, Chorus, General Music, and Effective Speaking in grades five through twelve over his twenty-seven year career. In 2001, Rick was a featured conductor and clinician at the South Charlotte Music Festival at South Charlotte Middle School. His playing credits include the Greenville Symphony Orchestra (Greenville, SC), the UNCC Community Band (principal), the Gulf Wind Ensemble (Clearwater, FL), the Greenville Lakeside Jazz Band (principal), the City Players (Clearwater, FL), and a founding member of the Furman Saxophone Quartet which was featured at the 1991 North American Saxophone Alliance National Conference. He also founded the Phi Mu Alpha Professional Music Fraternity Jazz Ensemble at Furman University and served as it's conductor from 2000 through 2002.
